The Other House residents club in London South Kensington. with her wealth of knowledge and Industry experience and branding and Property, Naomi launched the other house in 2022 a brand new concept to resident living and travel with flexible stays, designer bars and state-of-the-art wellness and fitness facilities. Naomi kindly gave me a tour of the stylish location and explained how its design and refurbishment was influenced by the artsy neighborhood and changing demands in global travel. so how to you offer the flexibility of long and short-term stays within the same location? and how do you maintain the authenticity of the neighborhoods character? and integrated within the fabric of the building ? here’s Naomi with more on that and how the journey.

Being an entrepreneur is not for the timid. and you have to really continue to plow your part. I think keep on knocking on every door and anything every opportunity one possibly can . My first job was so in advertising as a director of Saatchi & Saatchi, and Young & Rubicam . so I was very very much aware of branding of developing relationships with the consumer, knowing how you need to communicate with them and identify with them and what you offer has to say something relevant about themselves.
After advertising I followed my dream which was to work in property. I’ve been doing up renovating interior designing, selling property as a hobby. I finally decided that I wanted to be my boss. I got an entrepreneurial street came in and why didn’t I set up a company which represented investors who wanted to acquire property in central London, have them renovate, and rent out. so it’s very much focusing on the rental element of property in central London. as a company with completely innovative again because I represented the buyer in the UK. it’s mainly dominated by state agency representing the seller, no one was representing the buyer. so it was completely new. but through that whole process, I felt the company was lagging a central portfolio which acquired did out and managed a big portfolio rental property. and that was for corporates for long term students, for people coming for the long periods of time and wanting to be in the very heart to Central London.
what I could see is that they wanted small units because they wanted to be central, location mattered. then over the years I could see them wanting to be more and more interior design, more and more aspirational and then more recently I could see that they wanted everything more immediately. we’d enter the digital age. we’d entered the age of being on demand. and I was looking at the properties that we were renting out these tendances and I said actually what we’re doing is you’re renting out a bunch of hotels rooms. why don’t we give them what they want which is a long stay hotel. and that was the beginning of the Other House journey .because I could see that our parents had a great sense of place, great local experience but they wanted more service. they wanted access to that hotel star service but when I looked at the hotel sector I could see that they had the service probably in this day and age too much of it but they had no sense of place. I wanted to mash the two together. the centerpiece residential living, the service of hotels and make an offering which could be for a day, for a week, for a month, for a year. and of course that was absolutely revolutionary. one of the residential lens and Two the ideally you can stay in a place for any length of time. It is the same person that they have different needs.
so it was completely flexible living. you have our beautiful public areas, where you can eat and where you can drink. those are designed to bring the locals in. If you want to be part of the street life you can be but if you want to have something much more private every resident that comes here that stays here has access to our Private members club. and in fact what we call this concept is a residence club. it’s a place where you can live as long as you want where you can be part of a club and that is really really important. it is not a hotel in the traditional sense and we want to create the sector of residence club. so you have your lively public areas you have a fantastic club that we have where you can have friends chill. we have a spa we have a well-being area. we have a pool so you have all this wonderful facilities and then you can go back and retire to your club flat. and your club flat is a small apartment with a distinct living area sleeping area and kitchenette
it offers this whole new way of living. this kind of flexible living. disability to just be in your own place, doing your own thing. I don’t always envisage it as to be somewhere for people in the know people who probably didn’t need to or want to spend the fortune when you exactly where to go is rather cool place Off The Beaten Park which actually was a great place to go. they’d discovered it they were smart and interestingly the other house does have this kind of it’s circulates amongst people whenever I meet people they say yes you’ve heard about the other house. and they’ve heard about the other house in this really kind of cool intriguing interesting kind of way. it’s not just another hospitality venue or hospitality offering. it’s something which has got its own personality which is cool. you have to be in the know. you have to be the kind of place that know the kind of person who knows where they want to be where they need to be. and I think it has captured that. and that probably was something that I hadn’t fully anticipated that we would facilitate so well. we do want to link it to the local area. we do want people to feel like a local more and more people come and stay want experiences. they want to feel caught that environment. it’s not just the Hi-and-bye now. it’s not just being a visitor being looked after his visitor. as you get in a hotel. so with our local residency yes we have our private dining rooms with our named after moment people Francis bacon and frog’s bacon did use to come here and have a drink or too and I know that from a very ripplesource
This building in hankton Gardens was originally at 11 Victorian townhouses and I wanted to keep that kind of sense of the street vibe going and also not allow people to feel they were in a building with a very long corridor. so we change the interior design you see walk through the corridors. we break up the corridors and doors everything is to put it although this is a big big property with over 200 of flats/ everything is to bring it down to a kind of difficult scale that you do feel it’s your other house. and everything about what we’re doing and why it is called the other house it is meant to feel like your other house whether you’re here for a day a week a month or a year.
